Say Perry Barr and a number of things spring to mind. Alexander Stadium, home of the Birchfield Harriers; Birmingham Greyhound Stadium; and Birmingham City University (BCU) perhaps. Perry Barr is home to a lively and bustling community that includes local residents, workers and of course the students who study at the University.

When it comes to shopping, Perry Barr offers a wide selection of unique independent stores, as well as all the big name stores you’d expect to see. Spend time exploring the areas along the Walsall Road, the Aldridge Road and down around Aston and you’ll not only be satisfied with the value, the friendly service and the quality of the goods you’ll see, you’ll be surprised by the sheer variety to be found there.
ENTERTAINMENT AND NIGHTS OUT
Anyone looking for fun and excitement should try a night ‘trackside’ at Birmingham Greyhound Stadium. Food, drink and a little flutter on the dogs makes a great night out. And of course there are plenty of excellent restaurants and pubs to enjoy in and around the area.

There are a number of community, sports and fitness centres in and around Perry Barr though the most well-known would have to be the Alexander Stadium. A venue for regional, national and international events, it sits within the picturesque Perry Park. Along with the beautiful spaces of Perry Park, walkers and nature fans also have Perry Hall Playing Fields to explore; with the River Tame and the Tame Valley Canal offering even more recreational opportunities.
